Catherine Baum coordinates production shoots, interviews on-camera
talent and offloads and transfers HD footage. She also does stand-ups for
Double R’s promotional videos. In post-production, Baum writes scripts,
selects stock footage and music cuts from various libraries, and she serves
as a liaison between client and editor. In the edit suites, she video logs,
prepares some projects for edit and edits others entirely on AVID digital
media systems. Around the Double R offices, Baum manages footage
storage, writes and designs print and online marketing communications and
supervises three new interns each spring, summer and fall.
Since joining in April 2010, Baum has worked with the Double R
team on projects for the National Association of Broadcasters, Center on
Congress, Department of Veteran Affairs, American Society of Mechanical
Engineers, Apartment and Office Building Association, Physicians Committee
for Responsible Medicine, Crowell & Moring law firm, Greater Washington
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington, The
Textile Museum, Ithaca College School of Music, Metropolitan Washington
Council of Governments and Phi Beta Kappa Society, among others.
Baum has a background in multimedia journalism. Before coming to
Double R Productions, she reported for newspapers in Massachusetts,
London and New York. She discovered her passion for video while working in
news, and she ultimately joined Double R to immerse herself in
production.
Baum is a graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications
and the Maxwell School of Citizenship at Syracuse University, where she
majored in newspaper journalism and political science.
Outside of Double R Productions, Baum is a member of Women in Film
& Video, Television, Internet & Video Association of DC, Toastmasters
International and the Society of Professional Journalists.
