Michael Gionis is the Senior Editor and Systems Engineer for Double R Productions. After graduating from The University of Georgia with a degree in Radio, TV and Film in 1991, Gionis was employed at Peachtree Post in Atlanta where he served as tape operator and Macintosh coordinator. In 1993, he joined AVS Post providing technical support before moving into the editor’s chair. He piloted the AVID 1000XL and was a key figure in networking both AVS Post and Double R. Gionis has now been with Double R for more than fourteen years, bringing his creative eye and fast, cost-effective techniques to all Double R projects. His current system is an AVID Adrenaline with HD capability.

Gionis’ piece for the Defense Logistics Agency’s project "The Power of Partnership" received a CINE Golden Eagle in 1997. His creative work on the Department of Energy’s “Ensuring a Safer, Brighter Future” won another CINE in 2002. The Department of Justice’s “Restitution: A Victim’s Right” won a Millennium Award in 2007. Gionis is also the editor of Double R’s original program Gospelrobics, a 13-part exercise series set to gospel music to energize the body, mind and spirit, which airs on Howard University’s WHUT-TV (PBS).

Gionis resides in NW Washington, DC with his wife Teresa and sons Kerry and Nicholas and when not editing at Double R spends his time with his family and playing soccer. He hopes one day to play with the DC United soccer team.
