Double R Productions’ Associate Producer Shoots Documentary in
Ethiopia!
Associate Producer Megan Kimball traveled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as
part of a production team with the National Community Church to help
produce a documentary film exploring the efforts made by religious and
government organizations to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic on Entoto
Mountain. Entoto Mountain has become famous among Ethiopians as the
source of a “holy water” which allegedly cures people infected with
HIV/AIDS. The production team explored the culture on Entoto Mountain by
comparing interviews with families who have moved off the mountain and
are receiving anti-viral medications to those still living on the
mountain. Kimball served as second camera and helped coordinate the
shooting and interview schedule.
“Working in Ethiopia has given me a better understanding of the tools and
resources you need, as a producer, to be successful working in another
country. I really learned how to be flexible and think quickly when your
shooting schedules change. You have to be ready for anything,” stated
Kimball.
